Cupping

A therapist delivering a cupping treatment using silicone cups

You can think of Cupping Treatments as an opposite to massage. Massage therapies achieve results through compression of the tissues. Cupping treatments employ the use of a vacuum to lift soft tissues to stretch underlying fascia (tissue) and muscle away from the bone. Cupping promotes circulation, pulling blood cells into the tissues encouraging healing.

I am qualified in Traditional Cupping (using an open flame and glass cups) though unfortunately, due to insurance limitations I am limited to using only silicone vacuum cups.

Rest assured the silicone cups can still give a strong vacuum.

If you would like to try cupping but not sure if you will like it, simply book a Cupping appointment and leave a note that you would like to try it. The price of treatment is the same with/without Cupping

Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps showing visible marks of Cupping therapy

Perhaps one of the most famous examples of cupping was exhibited when Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps appeared in the 2016 Olympic Games. This image is a great example of the type of marks that can be left on the body through cupping therapies. These marks are pain free and usually fade over 4-7 days. They can vary in visual intensity depending on the strength of the vacuum and a persons skin tone.
