Acupuncture/Dry Needling
A service incorporated into a Sports Massage or Deep Tissue treatment. Using sterile, single use needles, Acupuncture/Dry Needling involves the placement of fine needles through the skin and into muscles. Western Acupuncture focuses on the anatomical muscle groups of the body to offer targeted pain relief.

60 mins = £75
If you are curious about acupuncture and would like to try it, book a sports massage and let me know that you would like to add some needles. I will not charge extra for this. I believe clients should have the freedom of being able to try the therapy without the pressure of upselling. Please let me know at the beginning of the session as informed consent needs to be obtained.
Trying out the needles will be limited to a few in one session. Following that, dedicated sessions are £75 to cover the cost of needles

Most of the time, NO.
In fact, sometimes people don’t even feel the needles go in! It has everything to do with needle placement and how much pain someone is in before a treatment. Occasionally, tender points may be pierced but any pain is rarely more than a flinch. Should any unbearable pain persist we can simply remove the needle.
You may feel a dull ache, heavy pressure, or a brief cramping sensation when the needle penetrates a deep knot. Mild muscle soreness following the session is common and typically resolves within 24 to 72 hours, leaving the muscle much looser and more flexible.
Lastly, it is possible to catch a blood vessel with a needle which can cause a little localised swelling and possibly bleeding when the needle is removed. This is very rare and very quick to heal up afterwards. -
There are a few theories behind why acupuncture works. Due to the minute scale of the needles + treatment site, scientists are unable to measure accurately enough to land on one opinion!
Opinion 1
Placing a needle in the produces a tiny micro contraction. Once that micro contraction runs out of what it needs to contract it sends a signal to the surrounding tissues to relax
Opinion 2
The needles and their placement cut off the neural signal for producing pain. With no signal in place, the brain lets those tissues relax as it no longer needs to “guard” them.
Opinion 3
Piercing a muscle “knot” directly acts as a reset button and helps those fibres relax and elongate -

I typically operate on a 24 hour minimum cancellation notice. When an appointment is booked you will receive a text reminder the day before. I will usually only enforce my cancellation policy if you have confirmed your appointment via text and then cancelled last minute. I do understand that sometimes “life happens” and will try and re-schedule customers before enforcing any cancellation policy.
